Question
Who Is Your Favorite Author amp Why?
What makes them so special to you?
Answer
Madeleine LEngle is my favorite author. Her book A Wrinkle in Time is the first book I chose to reread several times. It was wonderful.brbrWhat I love most about LEngle is that shes an old school author. I think many modern authors treat readers as though they have no brain readers are told information instead of being shown it. I also think modern authors have a genre and they stick to it, as opposed to older authors like LEngle, who dabble into various areas.brbrFor example, Nicholas Sparks writes romance. He can add a bit of humor or mystery, but hes still a romance writer. Or any number of other authors who write teen books are only teen book writers. When they write high school relationships, that is the focus, and the relationships are lustful and aggressive.brbrLEngle was able to write in many areas science fiction, religion, romance, humor and not be confined to one specific genre. She compiled all those aspects into one novel and it is my favorite of all time.brbrLEngles relationships in her books are natural, in all aspects. Romantically, her character pairings follow a normal routine en route to a relationship. They dont jump right into bed with each other. They dont have so much sexual tension that you want to shred the book because you cant take it. Her familial relationships are also wonderful. Very believable with fights, but also with scenes that feel like they should be cheesy but arent.brbrI think that Madeleine LEngles type of writing is a lost art. There are a number of authors out there who I think can do similar things, but I think most modern writers are a serious demotion from writers of old.
